@bhigr they aren't being "attacked" because the financiers have much more faith in the UK and US ability to pay back any loan than they do for greece and spain. Same as if you ask your local bank for a loan: if they think you're a high risk then they will charge you much more interest. It's not just about numbers, it's much more to do with international confidence.

The Euro is flawed from the gecko. You cannot have an interest rate that can accommodate for all the Euro nations. Yes, the Euro is in a down trend. However, when you look a 20 year history chart for the Europe (using some Deutsche Mark analysis), the value of the Euro is not exceptional at all. Even a EUR/USD of 1.10 is not unusual. The question is if it will fall further to levels of 1999-2001 or stabilize now between the 1.20 and 1.10.

All European countries are in the shit to some degree, it's just that Greece was the first one to be in deep enough shit to be near default. Add to that the false accounting (corruption) and people start to ask questions about the Euro project. Greece borrowed vast amounts of money and their debt has spiralled now the bad times have gone. Whichever way you look at it Greece has a hard time ahead. @bhigr The problem is, different cultures and economies work better with different interest rates. The Germans are producers and savers, for instance, whereas many of the Southern European countries like to spend a lot on government and lifestyle and don't export much. France is somewhere in between. (Ideally markets and not CBs would set interest rates, but that is too much to hope for at the current time)

We are not joining cultures, we are joining currencies;-) Fiscal irresponsibility on the part of Greece is the problem. I think it is good that the IMF is part of the bailout. Printing money is no long term solution. Taking the tough choices is!

TV knews and politicians says that Greek people are thieves and liers... But we are not like that! Sitting smoothly, people in YouTube say easy words, but me and my friends are fighting in the streets for better days. @LastReplaySC Suicide rates goes up with life standard. This is not exclusively for nordic countries, but the common pattern for humans. Also, it is a common mistake to believe everything is easyer in smaller or other places, but it isn't. It's just different.

@dj4monie The country is Norway. Not 100% sure, but I believe it's something like this: Scandinavian citizens may move here freely. EU, EEA and EFTA citizens may work here freely for 3 months, then you need to apply. After 5 years you can apply for permanent work permit. No visa required for Schengen and some other countries. Rest of the world need to apply for both visa and work permit. As a rule you can not have an other citizenship in addition to a Norwegian, if you plan to apply for that.
