@TheDKPhantom Hey man its not that bad. I just got it done last week. You'll be sore for a few weeks, and your nuts will be really achy, but I was up n walkin around a few days later. They do give you some good drugs! lol I got Percocet, which made me sleep a lot! As long? as you take it easy and don't try and lift anything for like 4 weeks, everything will be fine. PLUS, when they repair it, you'll NEVER get another hernia on that side again!

I just had this fixed on 1/11/12. The surgery went very well. The first day isn't too bad...just get home quick and find a nice recliner and put in front of the TV. The second day was painful but more of a sore type pain. It? wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm on the third as I type this I can move around the house no problem but still taking it easy. Should be good to go by Monday 1/16/12. Happy healing. Mine was an indirect repair with an umbilical one as well.

@Flotillaattack I don't know every detail of this operation however to my knowledge, a standard incision? is made over the inguinal canal and the intestinal loop is pulled up from the scrotum. To my knowledge, if an incision was made in the scrotum, another incision would have to made in either right or left lower quadrant of the abdomen anyways and the whole point of any surgical operation is to reduce the amount of incisions necessary. So I would not worry about "scrotal incisions".

@evilmind5 I had the open surgery last Thursday and been back at desk work since Tuesday. Pain was/is very minimal and my "scar" is so thin it is almost invisible and 4" or less long - scar length depends on how large the hernia is. I didn't have ultrasound - yours sounds like it was a much more serious case; I would venture most folks would prefer outpatient surgery than emergency? surgery for a strangulated intestine any day. I don't see how anyone could afford surgery w/o insurance.

@zomzom26 I had the open, not laparoscopic surgery, am 42 and it was first time to have general anesthesia. I used to be deathly afraid of anesthesia, but this is my second digestive procedure in a month which required some type of anesthesia and both times I was out like a baby. Hopefully you can have some good conversations with you physicians; the outpatient surgery isn't that bad and if you haven't had? any prior bad experiences with general anesthesia, you shouldn't need to worry.

@budzag I had it last Thursday and have been back to work since this Tuesday. As you, not even very sore, but it my case I? didn't need a bucket. The anesthesiologist cautioned me that some folk's digestive systems are more sensitive to the anesthesia than others, but I essentially didn't have any problems. Not everyone will need a bucket. :)

Go to places you trust. Mom and pop stores are usually better and sometimes won't even charge you for simple issues hoping that you'll come back when you have a real one next time. Just to note: Even though the fix is simple, it? still needs to be diagnosed. Although this issue should be resolved within a 15 minute time frame from the time troubleshooting begins.

These people are just dumbholes. Not supporting the a-holes @ bestbuy and such, but this happens with ALL specialty service. For example, have a women take a car to Jiffy Lube, and they'll find a million things? wrong with it. It's about 10% when a macho man takes the same car to Jiffy Lube. You just have to use some common sense... ie check online reviews, get multiple quotes etc.. And in this day and age, it's not acceptable to not know what a "spyware" or "Virus" is and how it works.

Let's not lump college degrees into the same category as a certification. Unless its an extremely specialized certification (CCNA, various? Go to some place like a home-brew game designer and you ask to work with them, they'll just see what you can do. Compare salaries, and you'll see what a certification can get you. Would you rather hire someone who can SHOW you programs they created and take you through the logic of making it? or someone who has a piece of? paper that says they read a book and took a test? I can say with 100% certainty that 4 years experience on the job will get you hired faster than no experience and a test certificate.

The new tight fitting parts might make it much harder to get the valve body into the white guide slot. Requires a lot of down force to keep seated while screwing the cap. Thanks for the step by step guide. Even though I couldn't get it right for a while at least I knew the procedure and? eventually got it seated while pushing down on the valve body for all I was worth. The lever is pretty tight now and takes a bit more force to turn on the water now but hey, no more leaky faucet!

This is an extremely poor example of doing a brake reline! If all you care about is cost, then go ahead and follow this garbage. If you care about doing it properly,? being able to spot potential problems, and want your new pads to last more than a month, get a $25 repair manual from an auto parts store and read it first. There is so much more to doing a proper brake reline than this video shows.

No.. all you need is enough to hold the pads against the calipers piston not too much glue...when next time you change them they should come off easy. @dammitcrap Lubricating the bolts is very important because you want the bolts to slid back and forth easily..."not to be dry".and yes the caliper? bolts. Any high temperature caliper lube will do just fine. Are you an installer?

one trick that bypasses the last resort helicoil is to take the damaged hole and clean? and retap for the next larger metric for a standard bolt hole. the bolt will not have the same head, or thread pitch as the other fasteners doing the same job, but it frequently works.

@MsCraigslister Or just disconnected the ingition oil from the engine, and crank the engine with the spark plug out. The compression will push the shavings out of the cylinder. You can do that if sand or something gets in there from removing? the spark plug if you didnt blow air around the plug before you removed it

@cameramonkey2 Because stripped a bolt hole usually takes so much metal out from the hole you cant re-thread it the same size as it was before.. The helicoil you thread the whole to a? bigger size so the coil will fit in, Then the original bolt goes into the coil.

Thanks for this video. I pulled the threads on the final drive housing of a shaft drive bike, don't feel like paying $300 for a new one. Plus I've read that helicoils? are stronger than the original aluminum which is good. The spec is 90Nm which I thought was too much for aluminum in the first place

Good video, but as i remember you turn the tap a little then turn it back which cleans the threads. If your doing a spark plug hole with the head is still installed, make sure the piston is all the way at the bottom. use grease on the drill bit and as you drill most of the metal shavings will stay on the drill bit.just dip the end of the drill bit in the grease. too clean the metal out of cylinder use a solvent like carb cleaner and very? small magnet that is made in the tool. aluminum burns up,

@mrmaxstorey Back in mechanic school, the trick they gave us to catch shavings when rethreading spark plug holes in place was to put? the cylinder at bottom dead center compression and to fill it with shaving cream, rethread the hole and then just turn the engine over by hand, that'll push the shaving cream out the plug hole with the metal shavings.

@BuickDoc Time Serts are supposed to be? stronger. They're both quite reliable though, I have yet to see either one of them fail but I'm sure they each have. Personally I like Helicoil's much more.
